FIRST ANNUAL GIG HARBOR VETERANS DAY EVENT AT OCEANS FIVE  (THANKS TO JILL, PAT, JOSH, AND A HARD WORKING COMMITTEE)

The Color Guard did a great job and looked very crisp, as opposed to this picture, but I know you can use your imagination.

Josh Sherwin put together a great video and the following are a few of the slides he used.  The head in the lower left was a Marine who just wouldn't get out of the way!

Thought this was a very unique flag presentation.  Made me think of the moon flag.

A very happy homecoming.  Wonder if she would even have a memory of her Daddy, but she is happy to see him nonetheless.  Sacrifices on both ends of each tour of duty!

Don't know who is copying who in terms of the open mouth?  A lot of joy to be with your family and it is so easy to take for granted.

A very interesting round table discussion about foreign tours and being under fire.  I spent just over eight years in the Army Medical Corps and treated Viet Nam wounds and malaria, but never touched a weapon or heard one fired and I consider that a blessing.  I flew one flight carrying Viet Nam combat troops home and the cheers when we landed at Travis AFB and watching young men kiss the ground was very moving.

Told you about the Marine.  This is why Jill and Pat wanted to have this event happen; to honor their Fathers.

Jill shared just a bit about her Father's history and loss of one arm, but that never slowed him done.

Pat got to sum things up and thank all of those on the committee who worked so hard to put on this very FIRST event to honor Veterans.  Thank YOU Pat and Jill for making this happen.
