Our Deserving Scholarship Recipients

Hope Flanigan
The Gig Harbor Rotary Foundation has been an invaluable source of support throughout my educational journey. Starting in high school with the Interact Club, Rotary empowered me and my peers to bring our ideas to life and create meaningful change in our community.
As a recipient of the Mildred McColl and Service Above Self Scholarships, Rotary’s generosity has allowed me to fully embrace my experience at the University of Washington. College can be overwhelming, with constant change and new challenges that can invite self-doubt. Knowing I had my community’s support through these scholarships gave me a solid foundation.
I’ve leaned on Rotary throughout my undergraduate years in many ways—from progress updates and celebratory breakfasts to club meetings and coffee catch-ups. Now, as a senior preparing to graduate, I am deeply grateful for Rotary’s support during this pivotal chapter of my life.
These scholarships made a transformative impact in my undergraduate experience, enabling me to study abroad in Ireland, pursue summer internships, and explore a variety of academic interests with confidence. As I look ahead to my future career and educational goals, I feel empowered by the connections and encouragement I’ve gained through Rotary.
